Meet Brian!

Brian is co-founder of New Self and is a passionate Functional Health Consultant

As a functional health coach, Brian brings a unique perspective to his clients, having experienced firsthand the challenges and triumphs of cancer treatment.  He understands the importance of a holistic approach to health and wellness, and works with his clients to develop personalized strategies for optimal wellbeing.

Brian begins by assessing his clients' overall health and lifestyle, taking into account factors such as nutrition, exercise, sleep, stress and mental health.  He then works with them to develop a plan for addressing any areas of concern, incorporating his knowledge and experience as a cancer survivor to help guide this process.

One of the key components of Brian's approach is a focus on nutrition, recognizing the significant impact that diet can have on overall health. He works with his clients to develop a balanced and nutrient-rich eating plan, incorporating whole foods and avoiding processed and refined foods as much as possible.

In addition to nutrition, Brian places a strong emphasis on exercise and physical activity, recognizing the importance of movement for overall health and wellbeing.  He helps his clients to identify activities they enjoy and can sustain over the long term, and encourages them to make exercise a regular part of their daily routine.  

Brian also recognizes the importance of stress management and mental health, and incorporates strategies such as meditation, yoga, and mindfulness into his coaching.  He helps his clients to identify and address sources of stress in their lives, and works with them to develop healthy coping mechanisms for managing stress.

Overall, Brian's approach to functional health coaching is grounded in his own experience as a cancer survivor, and he is dedicated to helping his clients achieve optimal health and wellness through a holistic and personalized approach.

This journey started after becoming sick myself...

After undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments, Brian found himself struggling with a range of physical and mental symptoms associated with treatment.  They included general body fatigue, loss of libido, mental fatigue and cloudy thinking.  He was also concerned with the long-term affects that chemotherapy and radiation treatment may have on his overall longevity.  When discussing these concerns with healthcare providers he left feeling there was no plan to individualy combat these symptoms.  As a young man, Brian struggled with each of these symptoms as he wanted and expected more in life.  

But then everything changed...

As a cancer survivor who has embraced a functional approach to health and wellness, Brian has recognized a number of key factors that have contributed to his overall wellbeing which guide him as a coach today.  These include:

The importance of a whole foods, nutrient-rich diet: Brian recognizes that nutrition plays a vital role in impacting energy levels, immune function and overall health.

The benefits of regular exercise and physical activity: Brian understands that exercise is a key component of a healthy lifestyle.

The role of stress management and mental health: Brian recognizes that stress and mental health can have a significant impact on overall wellbeing and incorporating strategies to mitigate stress are a must.

The importance of a personalized, holistic approach:  Brian personally understands that each person's health journey is unique, and that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to health and wellness

I am an outdoor enthusiast who enjoys sending time in nature and participating in outdoor activities.  I love the sense of adventure and exploration the outdoors provides


Woodworking is a pass-time I find can be both relaxing and rewarding as it provides a sense of accomplishment to unique and personal creations


I have been a sports enthusiast all my life.  From participating in college athletics to recreational I find the competitiveness, camaraderie and sense of accomplishment sports offer often align to our daily lives


My faith in the Lord above is vital to my framework as an individual.  It provides meaning, purpose and a foundation to understanding this world and my place in it.


Traveling with my family is one of my favorite things to do as it creates lasting memories and strengthens our bond while embarking on journeys and new destinations together
